Harris Teeter and Consalo Family Farms teamed up to donate 48,000 pounds of mandarins after the success of the “Mandarins Making a Difference” campaign.

For every pound of Little Smoochies mandarins purchased at North Carolina Harris Teeter locations from March 6-12, Consalo Family Farms donated a pound of mandarin oranges to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in North Carolina, which equaled 16,000 bags of mandarins, according to a news release.

“We want to thank Consalo Family Farms for supporting local hunger relief efforts and for allowing us to be a part of this program,” Danna Robinson, director of corporate affairs for Harris Teeter, said in the release. “Our trusted vendor Consalo Family Farms shares this dedication, and we’re honored to work together to donate much-needed nutritious produce.”

The company said that 1 in 7 Carolinians consistently struggle to access enough food for their families, and the “Mandarins Making a Difference” donation will support North Carolina’s food banks in addressing persistent food insecurity within the community.

“The ‘Mandarins Making a Difference’ campaign unites Consalo Family Farms’ passion for high-quality produce with our dedication to giving back to the community,” Chelsea Consalo, executive vice president at Consalo Family Farms, said in the release. “We’re grateful for Harris Teeter and the generosity of their customers for helping make this donation possible.”
