The Packer's 2022 Sustainability Insights

( )

Results of The Packer’s 2022 Sustainability Insights Survey reveal that everyone has an important role to play in creating a more sustainable world.

The survey — conducted in May by Trust in Food, a Farm Journal initiative— polled 664 growers, consumers and retailers to gain a greater understanding of the sustainable practices and perceptions of each group.

Sustainability is a priority for many across all groups polled, and when it comes to climate change, consumers take it to heart. Close to 70% of consumers polled rated addressing climate change as “extremely” or “very important” to their overall sustainability priorities.  quotable

Climate change is also top of mind among retailer respondents to the survey, with the majority indicating that they consider addressing climate change to be “important” or “extremely important” to their overall sustainability priorities.

And when it comes to growers and sustainability, the majority of growers surveyed say they didn’t undertake sustainability efforts for the money, with more than half (55%) of producers indicating that they put sustainability measures in place because they want to be good stewards of their land.

From greenhouse gas emissions to carbon footprint to sustainable packaging, food waste and more, this report delves into the minds of growers, consumers and retailers to provide a collective viewpoint on sustainability today and tomorrow.
