PACA sanctions for New York, Utah companies

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently imposed sanctions on three companies for violations of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.

The companies, and people who are “responsibly connected to them,” according to a news release, are:

• Brahm Foods Inc., Maspeth, N.Y., for failing to pay $52,701 to a Florida seller. As of the issuance date of the reparation order, Arrora Vijay was listed as the officer, director and/or major stockholder;
• 54 ISLIP Food Corp., Central Islip, N.Y., for not paying $7,114 to a New York seller. As of the issuance date of the reparation order, Daniel Taveras and Liz Dionicio Jr., were listed as the officers, directors and/or major stockholders; and
• D&R Foods LLC, St. George, Utah, for failing to pay $47,360 to a Texas seller. As of the issuance date of the reparation order, Daniel Webster and Roy Cook were listed as a members or managers of the business.

Sanctions include suspending PACA licenses at the businesses and barring the principal operators from engaging in PACA-licensed business without approval from the USDA, according to the release.
