Canadian grower Loveday Mushroom Farms has joined Kennett Square, Pa.-based South Mill Champs.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba, company’s production allows South Mills Champs to supply all major North American population areas in 48, according to a release, and improves efficiencies across both companies, broadening future planned compost and mushroom expansion plans.

Lewis Macleod, president and CEO of South Mill Champs, said the partnership “makes sense on all levels,” in the news release.

“The geographic location of Loveday is complementary to our bi-coastal operations and will further enhance our fresh supply chain in the Midwest region of Canada and the United States," he said in the release.

South Mill and Champs Mushrooms, British Columbia, merged in 2017, and the company has seen significant growth since then, according to the release. Distribution for the company also is expanding.

"The combining of efforts will allow us to expand our capabilities and leverage South Mill Champs' infrastructure to further support our customers' growth and ever-increasing demands," Burton Loveday, president, said in the release.

Loveday Mushroom Farms supplies retail and foodservice customers from Alberta to Northwest Ontario, according to the release.
