Josie’s Organics launches Belgian style leeks

Soledad, Calif.-based Braga Fresh Family Farms has added packaged Belgian style leeks to its Josie’s Organics line of products, according to a news release.

The trimmed leeks come in a two-count package and offer consumers a convenient and time-saving option with less wasted product than traditional leeks, according to the release. They have a mild, sweet flavor similar to shallots.

“We are always thinking of ways to add more value and quality to our products,” Peter Cling, senior vice president of operations, said in the release.

“When we took a closer look at the amount of shelf space that bunched leeks required, we wanted to come up with an alternative. Josie’s Belgian style leeks are trimmed in an eye-appealing package, and take up less shelf space at the store and in the consumers’ refrigerator. Our packaged leeks are simple, flavorful and stunning. Their gourmet appearance is sure to please organic consumers.”

The leeks are grown in the U.S. and are available year-round.

Braga Fresh continues to develop value-added and fresh-cut organic products to meet growing consumer demand, according to the release.
