Salix Fruits celebrates its 10th-anniversary by launching  fresh fruit import and export app

Salix Fruits, the fresh fruit import and export company celebrates its 10th anniversary presenting its app that it developed together with Lyncros, a software factory for mobile applications, business solutions, and microservices with secure APIs in companies of all sizes.

Established as a leader in its sector, the company accelerated its digital transformation 3 years ago, since their joint venture with Lyncros.

Pioneer in the world of fresh fruits in the development of an app of this type, the brand makes a great contribution to the activity in times of COVID-19, integrating all its areas to improve customers and producers’ experience and offer them solutions for the entire marketing process.

Salix Fruits presents a platform that customers and producers can download directly to their phones and keep track of all the offers that the company has with images of the fruits, its origin, and price, among other functionalities.

With the boom of e-commerce, Salix looked forward to creating a digital fruit marketplace not only with a great UX but also planning to have available the documentation of the operation all together and to be able to track the status of the order online.

Salix’s app has 3 large user groups. On one hand, fruit producers can upload the characteristics, photos, and prices of their products in just a few clicks, and automatically have access to a database of more than 12,000 customers.

On the other hand, buyers who, just entering the app can see the main timeline with current and past marketplace offers. Also, the origin of the fruit is detailed, which is very important information.

“The platform also gives buyers the possibility of placing an order for something that is not in the app, but that we will take care of getting it,” explains Juan Gonzalez Pita, Founder of Salix, a company with offices in Philadelphia, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, and Cape Town.

Gonzalez Pita describes that “just by moving your finger you can see what is available to buy, what quality, what grade, what size, you can see the photo and where that fruit comes from. And with just a few clicks you can make an offer for that product”.

The development of the app also took into account the most operational and internal side of Salix. “The application allows us to stand in the middle between producer and client to understand better their needs,” says Juan Florio, Product Manager at Lyncros, who led the team that worked on the app.

In this way, the company can unite needs with solutions and satisfy both parties in the best way. “The platform allowed us to reduce the time of certain internal operational and administrative processes that also benefit buyers and producers,” adds Florio.

In each user’s profile, the history of all orders is recorded with their documentation, invoices, and details. This makes it easy to repeat orders and have all the information available at all times.

“One of the most important points of the app is that it allows the tracking of the order: you can see exactly where the container is, where it passed, what route it is missing and the time pending to reach its destination,” says Gonzalez Pita.

At the time of developing the application, the idea was to “put in the shoes” of users and provide them with certain benefits so that they choose to change to online commerce. For producers, it allows them access to several customers that otherwise they have no arrival to, and for buyers, it gives them the possibility to observe the entire product offering at once and perhaps detect a new business opportunity.
