Monterey Mushrooms introducing finely diced product for blends
Monterey Mushrooms plans to debut a product made for blending with meat at the upcoming Produce Marketing Association Foodservice Conference and Expo.
The Watsonville, Calif.-based company will be showcasing its 2-pound bag of finely diced white and brown mushrooms in Booth No. 304, according to a news release.
The product comes ready to use for inclusion in burgers, tacos, meatballs and other items. The mushrooms are chopped and sautéed in advance.
The finely diced product can also be used in omelets, sauces, soups and other dishes.
Blended burgers have been growing in popularity, with quick-service restaurant Sonic Drive-In recently announcing it would test its own version and meal kit company Chef’d offering five blended burgers that were recognized by the James Beard Foundation.
“Finely diced mushrooms blended with meat creates a delicious and healthier way to enjoy favorite meat dishes,” Monterey marketing specialist Lindsey Roberts said in the release.
Monterey has also added 5-pound bulk boxes of organic white mushrooms and organic baby bella mushrooms, respectively. Those products were added to address the growth of organic in foodservice, Monterey foodservice manager Sandy Malouff-Quintana said in the release.
The PMA Foodservice Conference and Expo is July 28-30 in Monterey, Calif.
