When an apricot is crossed with a plum we get a pluot, or an aprium, or a plumcot. When a muskmelon is crossed with a honeydew we get orange honeydew, when a clementine is crossed with a blood orange we get Mandarosa mandarins and when The Produce Industry Podcast is crossed with Getting Fresh with Dan the Produce Man we get Fresh From The Fields Fridays!

That’s right folks, two Fresh Produce industry professionals have teamed up to further the cause to promote the regular consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables. The Produce Industry Podcast with host Patrick Kelly has added a new feature called Fresh From the Fields Fridays with co-host Dan “The Produce Man” Avakian (dantheproduceman.com.) The Produce Industry Podcast (theproduceindustrypodcast.com) has gained tremendous popularity in its year and a half run on all the major podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify and Anchor and Youtube! “I expected to have listeners and interaction with our industry, but I didn’t expect the overwhelming response, listenership, support and growth to be this enormous so fast” said Kelly. Spotify

Avakian, a 45 year veteran of the fresh produce industry and a strong background in media stated “This is a good collaboration, Patrick is very enthused and is dedicated to service in the produce industry, his honesty, integrity and passion is evident in his media presence and that’s what appealed to me. He has a great personality, sense of humor and is fun to work with. I’m excited to be working with him.”

Avakian has his own Youtube channel appropriately called Dan The Produce Man™
and alongside his vast career in fresh produce he has promoted it regularly on radio, television and the web over the years.

Fresh From The Fields Fridays will debut on August 6th with Sponsors Equifruit an Importer/Marketer of FairTrade Bananas and Buck Naked Onions of Owyhee Produce. “We will feature information on what’s happening around the country, guests and features and other really fun ideas that we’re tossing around,” Avakian stated. Social media platforms for both hosts will promote the podcast and sponsor’s messages as extra avenues of promotions. The podcast will be posted every Friday for listening and/or
downloading.
