A research report on expected growth of packaged fruit sales by Fact.MR says sales in the category are expected to be valued at close to $19.8 billion by 2031, rising at a compound annual growth rate of about 5.5% until that time.

Key takeaways from the market study, according to a news release, include:

  • The U.S. is estimated to account for around 86.4% of the North American market for packaged fresh fruits in 2021, supported by a growing number of health-conscious consumers;
  • According to the analysis, China is estimated to account for more than 75% of the East Asian market share in 2021, driven by increased demand from hotels, restaurants, and cafes;
  • The United Kingdom is one of the prominent countries in the European market with a share of 21%, fueled by increased imports of packaged fresh fruits;
  • Packaged fresh pineapples are estimated to account for 21.2% of the market in 2021; and
  • Conventional packaged fresh fruits reflect approximately 73.1% market share in 2021, but organic packaged fresh fruits are expected to witness a higher growth rate of 7.5% over the forecast period.

“Manufacturers are paying attention to consumers’ overt and covert needs and preferences as global demand for packaged fresh fruits continues to evolve,” the report said. That, according to the report, has led to more packaging that conveys a brand message.

Veganism also has spurred development of products to meet the needs of that market, according to the release.  “The growing trend of veganism represents a lucrative business opportunity for packaged fresh fruit suppliers,” the report said.

More information about the report can be found online.
