USDA reveals details of big orange purchase
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has purchased 35,000 cartons of fresh oranges.
Purchased on an f.o.b. destination basis, the shipments are contracted for delivery from Jan. 3 to June 29, according to a summary of the purchases.
The fresh oranges are for the school lunch program and other nutrition programs, according to the USDA.
The purchase of 34,884 cartons totaled just over $685,0000, the USDA said, with per carton purchases ranging from $13.22 to $26.73 per carton.
