PALM DESERT, Calif. — Mariani Nut Co., Winters, Calif., known for its California almonds, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the company.

To make it that long, the company hasn’t stood still.

“The marcona almond is our fastest growing snack of all the [stock-keeping units] we have,” said Brad Ryan, Mariani regional sales manager based in Indianapolis. “It’s helping produce department rings because it’s typically in the deli.”

As such, it’s also a produce-department item that sells well year-round.

Like the company name suggests, it’s not just all about plain almonds.

Mariani sells walnuts, pecans and almonds dusted or roasted in different flavors, such as the sweetened Cinnamon Twist and Honey Roasted varieties. There’s even a savory-spiced option, flavored with wasabi and soy.

Nuts are offered whole, chopped and in single-serving snack-pack sizes.
