Viva Tierra Organic is planning new product introductions, new packaging and new branding for the 2022-23 season, says Chris Ford, business development and marketing manager for the Mount Vernon, Wash.-based marketer.

Viva Tierra is an organic marketer of apples and pears throughout North America and is the largest supplier of organic South American apples and pears, according to the company’s website. The marketer focuses on organic apples, pears and onions and recently added premium kiwifruit and fresh ginger to its lineup, the company reports.

The company has had several name changes since it was founded by Roger Wechsler in 1984.  The Viva Tierra Organic brand was created in 1993 when the business began operating as Rootabaga Enterprises Inc., d.b.a. CF Fresh. When the brand celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013, the company name was officially changed to Viva Tierra Organic Inc., according to the company’s website. The company's main office is in Mount Vernon, Wash., with satellite sales offices in Epping, N.H. and Camptonville, Calif.

President and CEO Luis Acuña and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Steve Mackey have led the company since 2011.

Viva Tierra Organic offers Fair Trade USA certification, which Ford said adds value by building loyalty, driving sales, ensuring safe and healthy working conditions and strengthening brand credibility.

The marketer fully embraces organic and what it stands for, and shares that message with consumers, he said.

“Organic foods are better for your body and the planet,” Ford said.
