Alpine Fresh breaks ground on Florida facility

Grower, shipper and marketer Alpine Fresh recently broke ground for a new cold storage facility in Sweetwater, Fla.

The Miami-based company acquired 8 acres of land for the facility, which will include a Category 5 structure and sustainable features to support the company’s expanding operations and programs, according to a news release. The building is planned to open in early 2025.

"This building is going to be unlike any other building in South Florida," Jose Sanchez, president of Alpine Fresh, said in the release.

Co-founders Sanchez and Walter Yager marked the groundbreaking ceremony with Miami-based employees, along with close family and friends, the release said.

"We're so excited for what this new facility is going to do, not only for the company, but for the team. This will give our people the resources and spaces they need to do the jobs they want to do," CEO Walter Yager said in the release.
