Ashland, Va.-based Produce Source Partners, Inc. and Jessup, Md.-based Sudano’s Produce Inc. have partnered to boost sales of Maryland-grown fruits and vegetables to grocery retailers in the region.

“Maryland residents strongly prefer to purchase Maryland-grown fruits and vegetables and grocery retailers in the state have taken notice,” Dan Budi, director of retail sales at Produce Source Partners, said in the release. “This partnership will assist Maryland farmers in distribution to local grocery stores and ultimately to the Maryland consumer.”

The two companies said they are seeking Maryland fruit and vegetable growers interested in selling products through wholesale channels.

The release said Produce Source Partners has expertise in procurement and a history of supporting local growers. The company was formed in 2003 by the merging of Saville Produce of Newport News, Baker Brothers Produce of Richmond and Quality Produce in Roanoke.

Once accepted as a vendor, Maryland farmers will deliver product to Sudano’s Produce at the Maryland Food Center Authority in Jessup, Md., according to the release.  Interested Maryland produce growers may contact Dan Budi at DBudi@webpsp.com.
