US Foods, Rosemont, Ill., highlights 26 new products from its Serve Good program in the spring issue of Scoop, its product innovation magazine.

Serve Good launched in 2016 to meet consumer demand for sustainable food and sourcing information when dining out, according to a news release. Serve Good products meet responsible sourcing or waste reduction standards and are packaged with materials that help reduce waste and emphasize recycled materials, according to the release.

“Sustainable menu options are more than a trend, they’re a movement that’s here to stay. With Serve Good, we are committed to delivering a responsible approach to foodservice while equipping independent restaurants with high quality products diners will pay a premium for,” Stacie Sopinka, vice president of product development and innovation for US Foods, said in the release.

The program launched with 24 products and now offers more than 300 in categories including sustainable seafood, organic, non-GMO, animal care, responsible disposables and waste reduction.

New Serve Good offerings for spring include:

  • Monarch Non-GMO Ripened Sliced Sweet Plantains, imported from Ecuador.
  • Cross Valley Farms Organic Fingerling Potato Blend, with yellow, red and purple potatoes.

US Foods said the use of “organic” on menus has grown by 130% in the past 10 years.
