Schmieding Produce, Springdale, Ark., has hired Dave Yeager as senior vice president of business development.

Yeager has almost three decades of experience in the fresh produce industry, most recently as the vice president of sales for Farm Fresh Direct. Yeager joined the Monte Vista, Colo.-based potato, onion and sweet potato grower-shipper in 2010.

Before that, he was at Chiquita Brands International and NewStar Fresh Foods.

He has worked with a variety of fresh produce segments, including tropical, fresh-cut fruit, packaged salads, and fresh potatoes, which Schmieding specializes in. The company, however, is expanding categories and services.

“We have very aggressive growth plans and Dave will certainly help us meet those goals more quickly,” Schmieding Produce President Trent Woerner said in the release.
