Santa Fe Springs, Calif.-based foodservice distributor LA & SF Specialty has opened a new 255,000-square-foot distribution facility in Hayward, Calif.
LA & SF Specialty plans to move all inventory and operations from the current facility in Union City, Calif., to the new building by May 1, according to a news release.
The Hayward facility is one of the company’s four distribution facilities in the Western U.S. The others are in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.
The facility allows LA & SF Specialty to better serve Northern California customers by increasing capacity for handling a product line that has more than 7,500 items. Products include a full line of fresh produce, as well as dairy, ingredients and groceries, according to the release.
LA & SF Specialty needed more space for the present, as well as for anticipated growth in Northern California, said Chris Charlesworth, director.
“As our customer base and product line has grown over the last few years, thanks to the incredible hard work, dedication, and expertise of our unbelievable operations and transportation teams, we were able to utilize our systems and processes to maximize our space and operations as efficiently as possible,” he said in the release. “But our continued growth and anticipated growth dictated the move to a larger facility with substantially more dock doors to increase receiving and loading efficiencies, in addition to more cooler space.”
