Jan Berk, chief operating officer of San Miguel Produce, Oxnard, Calif., is the honoree and featured speaker at the United Fresh Produce Association’s Women in Produce event.

Berk will speak at the June 12 breakfast general session at the United Fresh Convention & Expo in Chicago.
Berk has been with greens company San Miguel Produce full-time since 2002, initially focusing on sales, marketing and rebranding the company’s value-added Cut ‘N Clean Greens line. She became a partner in San Miguel in 2006, according to a news release.

Berk was featured by The Packer’s Women in Produce series in 2011.

She has served on numerous industry boards and orgs, including chairwoman of United Fresh’s Fresh-Cut Board, United Fresh executive committee and board of directors, and the Ventura (Calif.) County Farm Bureau board. She is the vice-chairwoman for the California Leafy Greens Marketing Amendment.

“For more than 20 years, our Women in Produce honorees have always provided an inspiring look into successful pathways in our industry,” Tom Stenzel, United Fresh president and CEO, said in the release. “Jan has such a rich career and personal story to share with our attendees that I know she will inspire yet another generation of produce leaders.”

Glad you're getting the recognition you deserve Jan! I've been managing the produce departments for a couple small grocery stores for almost 5 years now , and I love getting to know the farmers and deliveries of fresh produce .
