Smaller sizes and varieties that are on the lower end of the price scale often are the choice of foodservice buyers, Michigan apple grower-shippers say.

The company has been “producing smoothly and efficiently” Since the company merged with Salinas, Calif.-based Red Blossom Sales Inc. last fall, said Craig Casca, chief marketing officer.
The Nipomo, Calif., company ships out of the Santa Maria, Calif., area year-round, and that business plan seems to be working out well for the company, said Will McCarthy, commodity manager.
Troutdale, Ore.-based Strebin Farms has added organic yellow and red onions to its program that kicks off in September out of Yerington, Nev., said Dan Strebin, an owner of the company and head of sales.
