February is American Heart Month, and March is National Nutrition Month, and Pear Bureau Northwest is focusing its promotional efforts accordingly.

The group is taking a multipronged approach, with retailer demos and display contests, digital ad campaigns and editorial and social media to get out the message on how pears fit into a nutritious diet and healthy lifestyle. The promotions are for retailers in the U.S. and Canada, and can be customized, according to a news release.

For retail, Pear Bureau Northwest has display contests, including signage of salads, smoothies, roasted vegetables and breakfast ideas to inspire consumers.

Pear Bureau Northwest has already launched its social media #WhatsInYourFruitBowl contest for the month of February, aimed at reminding consumers to eat more fruit (and especially pears). See story here.

In addition to that, the group is hosting an online sweepstakes through February and March for U.S. and Canadian consumers to win a Vitamix blender. Both online contests feature content emphasizing the nutritional benefits of pears.

“With the fresh start of a new year and many people embracing healthier lifestyle and diet choices, we feel that February and March are the perfect months to loudly share the message that pears are a favorite winter fruit with significant nutritional benefits,” said Kevin Moffitt, president and CEO of Pear Bureau Northwest, in the release.

“Northwest pears are also available nearly year-round and our promotions during the Nutrition Months will help keep pears on the minds of retailers and consumers in winter and spring.”
