Second phase of Baldor expansion nears completion

Baldor Specialty Foods, Hunts Point, N.Y., has expanded its New York headquarters.

The $25-million, 110,000-square-foot expansion of the office, storage and distribution center has increased the company’s overall space to 270,000 square feet. The company has also added more than 50 delivery trucks to accommodate increased production, according to a news release from Dresdner Robin, the land use consultancy/engineering firm that worked on the project.

Baldor Specialty Foods delivers to a 120-mile radius of the facility.

“This expansion will help Baldor increase its product lines with new fruits and produce to serve the area’s top restaurants and grocery stores,” Michael Muzyk, president of Baldor Specialty Foods, said in the release.

Dresdner Robin’s design added 42 loading docks and 300 parking spaces at the facility, Muzyk said in the release, and construction didn’t interrupt Baldor Specialty Foods’ business operations.

Construction and engineering at the project is in its second phase, which is in near completion and includes adding 30 more loading docks.

Dresdner Robin began work on the project in 2015, developing a multi-phase design and construction plan. The land is owned by the New York Economic Development Corp., according to the release, and the design company worked with the city on approvals and permits on construction and engineering for the project.

Beginning work in 2015, the firm created a multi-phase plan for design and construction at the site. The parcel of land is owned by the New York Economic Development Corporation, so Dresdner Robin worked with the city to gain approvals and permits on all construction and engineering services on the site.
