Florida Citrus Mutual has hired Matt Joyner as director of government relations.

Joyner previously was the deputy chief of staff for Adam Putnam, commissioner of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. He officially joins Florida Citrus Mutual on Dec. 10, according to a news release.

“Matt has not only a deep understanding of how government works but also the issues facing the Florida citrus grower,” Mike Sparks, executive vice president and CEO of Florida Citrus Mutual, said in the release. “Legislative issues are FCM’s highest priority and with Matt’s expertise and experience I am sure he will hit the ground running in both Tallahassee and Washington.”
