Ocean Mist offers new packaging options

ORLANDO, Fla. - Castroville, Calif.-based Ocean Mist Farms featured a couple of new items in the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit innovation showcase, says Diana McClean, senior director of marketing for the company.

In the organic arena, the company is introducing a 1-pound bag of organic Brussels sprouts and a 5.5-ounce bag of green onions.

In the conventional product line, Ocean Mist is rolling out a two-pound washed and ready to eat Brussels sprouts pack.

“We’re growing our convenience line using are using our equipment to build out different packs that are going to solve solutions for the retailers,” McClean says, citing 3-pound shredded halves and whole Brussels sprouts, broccoli florets and more.

“Our theme this year is we are talking about how Ocean Mist Farms igniting sales for retailers,” she says, noting the company digital coupon promotion that is aligned with regional TV spots and regional focused social campaigns. “We can show these retailers the redemptions that we’re getting on the programs we do to support their sales,” she says. “We really want to emphasize how Ocean Mist Farms is a value-added partner for these retailers and what we are doing to drive traffic to their stores.”
