Kingsville, Ontario-based Red Sun Farms has nearly doubled its donation to the Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario compared with a year ago.
The donations were made through an employee program at the company, according to a news release.
In 2017, Red Sun began a program that provided a box of produce for employees for $5.
Beyond the ample volume of fresh vegetables in the boxes from Red Sun, money collected from the produce box purchases is being donated to Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario. The non-profit helps grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses.
Red Sun Farms president Jim DiMenna matched the money raised in support of the initiative.
This year, Red Sun Farms and DiMenna donated $9,770 to Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario, compared with a donation of $5,720 last year.
“I am so proud of our team,” DiMenna said in the release. “Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario is such a great organization, and for our staff to beat last year’s total, by such a large amount, is truly amazing.”
