Five Crowns Marketing, Brawley, Calif., had been growing asparagus on 3,500 acres in the Imperial Valley but ceased this year, said Daren Van Dyke, director of marketing for Five Crowns. The company grows under the Majesty label.

The company will instead grow asparagus in Washington and Mexico, he said.

Also, Five Crowns will for the first time begin shipping asparagus on the East Coast, Van Dyke said.
