J&J Distributing, St. Paul, Minn., is recalling a small amount of salad products because they contain an undeclared allergen, pine nuts.
The recall involves 136 pounds of two products:
- Kowalski’s Markets Sicilian Chopped Salad, in 14-ounce containers with sell-by dates of Dec. 27 through Jan. 2; and
- Kowalski’s Markets Italian Steakhouse Cobb Salad, in 14-ounce containers with the same sell-by dates.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service reported the products were produced from Dec. 21-27, and have “EST. 38450” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retailers in Minnesota.
No consumers have reported adverse reactions from eating the salads.
The label’s omission of pine nuts was discovered during a routine FSIS inspection, according to the recall notice.
