As consumers buy potatoes from grocery stores every month of the year, retailers have an opportunity to increase the growth of this already profitable category. Of course, a lot goes into getting potatoes on the shelf in grocery stores, and the more retailers know about the potato journey, nutrition and usage, the better potato advocates you can be.

A new five-part video series has been created to educate retail decision-makers about everything from planting to harvest to optimal merchandising techniques. Each video is four minutes or less. Short, sweet and to the point.

Here is what you can expect from this educational video series:

1. Potato Growing, Harvesting and Packaging: Observe the life of the potato before arriving at your store from two potato farmers in Idaho.

2. Types of Potatoes: While all potatoes can be used in any recipe or cuisine, each type performs best when cooked in a certain way. Find out how each type should be cooked to help increase consumer satisfaction when purchasing them from the store.

3. Potato Nutrition: How does the nutritional value of potatoes hold up compared to other commodities in your produce departments? Find out in this video with a registered dietitian.

4. Assortment and Storage: Learn how to properly store and handle potatoes, plus how potato assortment can boost sales.

5. Displays and Promotions: Learn how store signage and promotional best practices can help boost potato sales.

Every individual working in grocery is encouraged to watch these videos to improve sales of fresh potatoes.
