Sprout grower Fullei Fresh completes Primus audit
Miami sprout grower Fullei Fresh has completed the Primus GFS audit.
The company, which received a 95 out of a possible 100 on the audit, says it boosts its “intentions of courting major corporate accounts,” according to a news release. The company’s products are currently in stores that include Whole Foods Markets, The Fresh Market and Lucky’s Market.
The company also distributes through Freedom Fresh, Fresh Point, Mr. Green’s, Sysco and others.
“We are proud of our employees and the quality products we have,” Fullei Fresh owner Manny Wong said in the release. “Together with our long shelf life, the Primus GFS audit will hopefully open new doors for us.”
The company has the capacity to increase production and is ready to expand to other regions, according to the release.
Fullei Fresh credits the Food and Drug Administration’s Sprout Safety Alliance, created by the Food and Drug Administration and the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute of Food Safety in 2012. The alliance is designed to “enhance the industry’s understanding and implementation of best practices for improving sprout safety” and requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act, according to the group’s website.
