Stone fruit recall updated with stores impacted by listeria outbreak
The Food and Drug Administration says HMC Farms voluntarily recalled conventionally grown peaches, plums and nectarines sold in stores between May 1 and Nov. 15, 2022, and May 1 and Nov. 15, 2023.
The FDA noted this recall is in response to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
According to the FDA, the company distributed peaches, plums and nectarines nationwide. These include individual pieces of fruit with PLU stickers on the fruit labeled USA-E-U, containing the following numbers:
- Yellow peach: 4044 or 4038.
- White peach: 4401.
- Yellow nectarine: 4036 or 4378.
- White nectarine: 3035.
- Red plum: 4042.
- Black plum: 4040.
- HMC Farms: peaches, plums, or nectarines sold in HMC Farms-branded bags.
- Signature Farms: peaches or nectarines sold in Signature Farms-branded bags and labeled with 6359 printed on a white sticker on the bag.
The FDA said that while the fruit is no longer available for sale in stores, consumers may have frozen it. The agency said said the following retailers received recalled peaches, plums and nectarines and released public notices:
- Food Lion stores in Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia (includes 2-pound bags and 4-pound boxes of peaches, nectarines or plums).
- Walmart & Sam’s Club.
- Albertsons Cos. banner stores — ACME, Albertsons, Balducci’s Food Lovers Market, Carrs, Eagle, Haggen, Kings Food Markets, Lucky, Pavilions, Safeway, Shaw’s, Star Market, and Vons in Arkansas, Southern California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington D.C., Washington and Wyoming.
- Aldi stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennesee, Wisconsin and Virginia (includes 2-pound bags and 4-pound boxes of peaches, nectarines or plums).
- Sprouts Farmers Market.
