Ready Pac chef encourages local, organic for sports venues

Ready Pac Foods corporate executive chef Jeff Haines urged sports venues to offer organic and local products during an event in Philadelphia.

Haines spoke Nov. 14 at the Food and Beverages Innovations panel session of the Champions of Food Symposium, which is designed to gather representatives of restaurants and concession companies as well as athletes, according to a news release. Business and public leaders were also invited.

The event centered on how the industry could bring more healthy, sustainable options to sports venues. Haines discussed how using local suppliers, organic products and sustainably sourced items could be ways to bring local identity back to venues.

The event was at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
