The CDC has added 41 cases to the multistate outbreak of cyclospora infections attributed to Del Monte vegetable trays, bringing the total number of cases to 185.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 131 cases in Wisconsin, 47 cases in Minnesota, five cases in Iowa and two cases in Michigan. The Food and Drug Administration noted in its corresponding update that Michigan is not actually affected by the outbreak because the two ill people there bought the veg trays in Wisconsin.

When the CDC informed Del Monte in early June that epidemiological evidence pointed to several of its vegetable trays, the company pulled 6-ounce, 12-ounce and 28-ounce products from numerous retail locations in the affected states and in Illinois.

The FDA is still working to figure out which ingredient in the veg trays is responsible for the outbreak: broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery or dill dip.
