The Super Bowl isn’t the only occasion for which shoppers seek extra avocados. Father’s Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day all saw dollar sales grow from 2018 to 2019, according to the Hass Avocado Board.

Higher prices helped boost the numbers for two of the three grilling holidays. As expected, as prices rose, volumes fell. For Father’s Day, the regions with the smallest decreases in unit sales were California (-8%), Midsouth (-11%) and the West and South Central (each -13%).

For Fourth of July, the least significant volume dips were in the Southeast (-4%), Midsouth (-9%) and Great Lakes (-11%).

Benefitting from lower prices, Labor Day volume sales were higher in 2019 than 2018 in seven of eight regions, with four experiencing double-digit growth. The areas with the biggest jumps were the Southeast (25%), Great Lakes (18%), California (14%) and South Central (12%).
