Thanks to a green puppy named Pistachio, every resident of an Italian town is receiving a bag of Wonderful Pistachios.

The company is also giving the dog’s owner, farmer Cristian Mallocci of Pattada, Sardinia, a lifetime supply of the pistachios.

The dog’s green color is temporary, according to a news release. Green is associated with luck, and Mallocci sees the dog, born Oct. 9, as a “beacon of hope during this difficult time,” according to the release.

“To echo Mr. Mallocci’s sentiments, we could all use a little green hope and luck right about now, and while we wish Pistachio could join our team as a mascot, we’d like to express our excitement by gifting all of his 3,000 neighbors with Wonderful Pistachios,” Adam Cooper, senior vice president of marketing at The Wonderful Company, said in the release.
