Yakima, Wash.-based Domex Superfresh Growers is gearing up to commemorate Earth Day, April 22, with a bumper crop of organic apples. Superfresh suggests retailers extend Earth Day into Earth Month by promoting organic Washington state apples throughout April, according to a news release.

In 2017, organic apples were the second-highest organic fruit in terms of retail dollar and volume share, according to the release, and represent 21% of dollar and volume in the organic fruit category.

The company offers many organic varieties from the Northwest nearly year-round, communications manager Catherine Gipe-Stewart said in the release.

“We believe that caring for the land, air and water in our little corner of the world affects everyone on the planet,” Gipe-Stewart said in the release. “Superfresh growing practices allows us to cultivate fruit that our consumers can enjoy for generations to come.”

Superfresh Growers offers retail and social media support materials for Earth Day organic promotions, according to the release.

The company expects to have promotable volume of organic apples, including fuji, gala, granny smith, cameo, red delicious, gold delicious, Pink Lady, braeburn, Honeycrisp and Autumn Glory, through spring and into early summer, according to the release.
