Frank Padilla, Steve Lutz to speak at OPN virtual event

Frank Padilla, Costco’s vice president and general merchandise manager for produce and meat, will join Steve Lutz, senior vice president of insights and innovation for Category Partners, in an Organic Produce Network discussion about organic produce sales and consumer behavior in 2020.

The virtual event is titled “What a Year It’s Been, So Far ... 2020 Organics in Review” and will cover how buying habits have shifted due to COVID-19 and what the future of grocery retail looks like, according to a news release. The conversation will be moderated by OPN co-founder Tonya Antle.

“The past seven months have been filled with a variety of challenges, uncertainty and resolve by retailers across the country,” Antle said in the release. “With double-digit growth in organic sales during this time, we are excited to have Frank and Steve talk about what has transpired in terms of organic sales and consumer purchasing behavior during this time and provide a look into what the remainder of the year may look like.”

The event is scheduled for Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. PST. Registration is available here.
