Farmblox, a farm automation system that equipment and in-orchard sensors to the internet, said it has started to work with walnut and nut growers to improve operations. The company says growers using Farmblox can create customizable automation including plug-and-play sensors and controllers, connected to Farmblox’s universal monitor box.

Farmblox says its universal monitor box delivers power and wireless connectivity through its base station network that links to the Internet and provides growers with a comprehensive and real-time overview of the farming operations.

The system can monitor irrigation systems and offer growers detailed data on soil moisture, soil carbon dioxide for carbon credits, soil temperature, leak detection, tank and silo levels, ambient temperature, freeze risk, water usage, irrigation pressure, pump conditions and weather conditions, according to a news release.

The company says its technology can save up to 50% in labor costs and result in 30,000 fewer miles walked by growers and workers scouting irrigation systems each year. It is also customizable to different crops, farm sizes and operations.
