Industry veteran Peter Hill started May 24 as vice president of food safety and grower relations at Berry Fresh LLC.
California operations for Berry Fresh are based out of Dominguez Hills, Calif., but Hill will work in Santa Maria, he said May 30. He said he will be supporting the company’s year-round berry programs from both South and North America.
Hill grew up in Santa Maria and graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 1996 with a degree in agribusiness management. Hill moved to Florida in 2006, working in the berry industry at stints with Naturipe Farms and Alpine Fresh.
“It feels really great to return to the Central Coast,” Hill said May 30.
