Brighter Bites Executive Director Sam Newman is scheduled to be the Dallas Fresh Food Association’s next luncheon speaker.

Brighter Bites has provided more than 18 million pounds of fresh produce and educational materials to schools in New York, Florida and Washington, D.C., since 2012, according to a news release. The group received the Texas Health Champion Award in 2016.

The Dallas Fresh Food Association’s mission to reach students and families includes Brighter Bites as the association expands.

“I’m hopeful that, with groups like the Dallas Fresh Food Association, we can help combat the lack of understanding and awareness around how food impacts health – especially at the school level where most of these kids spend the vast majority of their time each day,” Newman said in the release.

The luncheon is scheduled from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 7. For more information, e-mail dffa.membership@gmail.com.
