George Baker joins Eden Valley Growers in sales/procurement

Eden Valley Growers Inc., Eden, N.Y., has hired George Baker for its sales and procurement team.

Eden Valley Growers Inc., Eden, N.Y., has hired George Baker for its sales and procurement team.

Baker brings more than 40 years of experience to the vegetable farm sales cooperative, according to a news release.

He began his career in 1975 in Buffalo, N.Y., as a produce clerk at Tops Markets, and was a produce buyer and category manager when he left the company in the early 1990s, according to the release. He also was at C&S Wholesale Grocers in multiple positions including vice president of perishable sales.

Baker left C&S Wholesale Grocers in 2007 and moved to Florida, where he was vice president of sales and marketing for W. P. Hearne Produce Co. He also worked for Voyager Farms, and most recently, Pennrose Farms, according to the release.

At Eden Valley Growers, Baker will focus on developing year-round sales programs for customers that will include produce from Mexico, Florida and Georgia. He lives in Parrish, Fla.
