AFM says, leading up to Cinco de Mayo, consumers spend 1.9 times more on groceries when avocados are in their basket — and that Cinco de Mayo avocado shoppers make 7.6 more trips per year than the average avocado buyer.

AFM will offer free “Cinco De Licious” merchandise displays while supplies last, the release said. AFM says its GuacAImole tool will help consumers create custom recipes and help drive interest as Cinco de Mayo nears.

“This is a top celebrated occasion for avocados, and we’ve seen consumption of the fruit continue to grow over the last six years and a record increase in Mexican avocado imports last year,” Stephanie Bazan, senior vice president of commercial strategy and execution for Avocados From Mexico, said in the release.. “We’re delighted to be engaging with shoppers through a seamless omnichannel experience as they prepare to celebrate Cinco.”
