Miami-based Goldenberry Farms began introducing tropical berries to the U.S. market in 2021, and demand has been increasing for its namesake berries since then, says Christopher Palumbo, brand director.

Sweet and tropical-flavored goldenberries are in the same family as the tomatillo. The company is now offering two retail package sizes of the tropical fruit as well as a bulk pack, Palumbo said.

“Goldenberry Farms is working to substantially increase their growing footprint to offer higher volumes of freshly grown berries to the U.S. and North American markets,” he said.

The company's own field supply has increased by almost 128% since 2021, Palumbo said. The company has farms in Colombia.

In the third quarter this year, Goldenberry Farms plans to introduce a mixed berry presentation, he said. Those new products offer "grab and go" options for clients, as well as a way to offer value since customers could purchase one item and enjoy two varieties, he said.

Goldenberry Farms will continue with its "Mother Nature's Candy” campaign to market berries, which includes social media influencers, tastings in key cities, and POS tools for retailers he said.

“Retailers can add a small amount of colorful and exotic berries, such as goldenberries to their cut fruit offerings,” he said. “This adds a color splash, as well as a completely new taste, and an important first introduction to a new fruit."
