Vancouver, British Columbia-based Oppy (The Oppenheimer Group) is unveiling its seedless Daisy and Dekopon mandarin citrus selections from Australia.

“Both of these varieties offer an unparalleled eating experience and exceptional quality,” Oppy's Category Director of Citrus and Avocados Rodrigo Lopez said in a news release.

The Dekopon mandarin, with a unique appearance and delightfully sweet taste, consistently delivers full and satisfying flavor, Richard Byllaardt, a grower and field agent for Oppy, said in the release.

“As the Dekopon requires delicate handling, it is harvested with utmost care to ensure customers receive the highest quality," Byllaardt said. "We anticipate its arrival to the North American market by early September.”

Daisy mandarins began to arrive in North America at the end of July, the release said.

"Daisy mandarins are easy to peel and provide a truly enjoyable eating experience,” Lopez said. “With their high sugar content and consistent quality, this unique variety from Oppy is seedless and is in high demand among consumers."

The varieties also require fewer pesticides and less water than other citrus varieties because of the way they are grown, Byllaardt said.

Both the Dekopon mandarin and seedless Daisy are available now in the Ocean Spray label in bulk and bags.

Oppy has experienced strong growth in citrus volume from Australia in the last decade, according to the release.

"We are excited about the future and the opportunities it holds for us and our new grower-partners,” Lopez said. “We have only scratched the surface of what Australian citrus can offer, and we have no doubt these two varieties will certainly exceed expectations.”
