D’Arrigo Bros. Co. of California, Salinas, is postponing the 61st annual Broccoli Rabe Feed because of concerns about the coronavirus COVID-19.

The company announced its decision March 13, citing recommendations by World Health Organization, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on minimizing large gatherings and non-essential travel.

The popular event brings hundreds of people to D’Arrigo California headquarters in Salinas each year to enjoy a cookout featuring broccoli rabe, which the company produces year-round.

The D’Arrigo of California statement said the company has been monitoring the situation domestically and internationally, and decided to postpone the May 8 event.

A new date has not been set yet.
