The Food and Drug Administration says Wiet Peeters Farm Products Limited of Charing Cross, Ontario, Canada, recalled sliced mushroom products due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
This follows a recall in Ontario and Quebec announced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
The FDA says recalled mushrooms were distributed in Michigan and Ohio.
Recalled products include:
- Aunt Mid’s Fresh Sliced Mushrooms comes in a 227 gram flat blue plastic package marked with UPC 0 33383 676005 on the top and with BEST BEFORE 25JL04 stamped on the side.
- Peeters Mushroom Farm Cremini Sliced comes in a 227 gram flat black plastic package marked with UPC 0 68414 96960 3 on the top and with and BEST BEFORE 25JL04 stamped on the side.
- Peeters Mushroom Farm Thick Slice Mushroom 10-pound cardboard comes in a 10-pound cardboard box labeled with Peeters Mushroom Farm.
The FDA says no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall. And the potential for contamination was noted after Canadian Food Inspection Agency testing showed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in 227-gram packages of fresh sliced mushrooms. The FDA says other products affected in this recall have been manufactured on the same line as the 227-gram fresh-sliced mushrooms.
