U.S. onion exports gain by double digits in last year
U.S. onion exports in the 12 months from July 2020 to June 2021 rose 10%, according to new trade numbers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The USDA reports U.S. total onion exports were $212.8 million for that time period, up 10% from $194.1 million a year ago but down 12% from the same period in 2019.
Top U.S. onion export markets, with percent change from a year ago:
- Canada: $133.3 million, up 10%;
- Mexico: $49.1 million, up 17%;
- Taiwan: $5.9 million, down 2%;
- Panama: $4.7 million, down 33%; and
- United Kingdom: $4.3 million, down 34%.
