GRAPEVINE, Texas — Freshcourt, Coral Gables, Fla., has two new avocado value-added items for sale at retail.

There's a berry smoothie, which can be eaten with a spoon like a smoothie bowl, said Eduardo Garcia Chamorro, marketing director of Freshcourt. It's available in 2-ounce, single-serving, top-seal packages and larger sizes.

And then, there's an avocado salad, available in 8-ounce trays, which can be eaten itself as a salad or side dish but can also be incorporated into and on top of dishes such as rice and meat. The dish packs a delightful zing, tasters said at April's Viva Fresh Expo hosted by the Texas International Produce Association.

The agribusiness group has more than 25 years of experience packing and processing fresh hass avocados from Mexico. The company makes guacamole dips, as well.

Company representatives that chatted with 2022 Viva Fresh attendees included Juan Molano (from left), Garcia Chamorro, Arturo Mendoza, Gene Lamour and Wayne Beck.

Freshcourt has two packing plants in Mexico's fertile farmland: Uruapan, Michoacán, and Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco. Also, the company has two processing plants in Uruapan, Michoacán and Irapuato, Guanajuato — positioned for access to the best supply chain and distribution channels.
