Country Sweet Produce’s Bako Sweet has a new sweet potato bag design featuring visuals and guides for consumers.

The Bakersfield, Calif.-based company debuted the new look for the 3-pound and 5-pound conventional and organic mesh sweet potato bags at The Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando, Fla., according to a news release.

“We are really proud of this new packaging design and how much it will benefit our retail partners and consumers alike,” Alexandra Rae Molumby, director of marketing for Bako Sweet, said in the release. “We took the opportunity to create a design that not only included helpful information and inspiration for shoppers, but would better support our retail partners as a top selling item.”

The design includes information specific to the sweet potato variety, with photos and an explanation about the outside and inside color, the release said. Consumers can scan a QR code to view recipes for the products. Along with recipe photos, cooking instructions can be viewed for different methods, such as microwaving, baking, boiling and grilling.

The recyclable packaging bears the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check Food Certification Program label emphasizing health benefits, the release said, and includes the UPC and pack date on the bag artwork.

Bako Sweet will be able to double its efficiency output with the new bags, using its new GIRO machine, according to the release. The brand’s new bags are expected to launch in Sam’s Club by the end of October, with other retailers following later in the fall.

Global Produce & Floral Show attendees can learn about Bako Sweet’s variety of sweet potatoes and see the new mesh bags at booth No. 2480.
