Bonduelle launches single-serve salad line in Canada

Bonduelle Fresh Americas, formerly Ready Pac Foods, is launching Bonduelle Fresh Picked salads in Canada.

Fresh Picked salads come with leafy greens, seasoned meats, dressings and toppings that include cheese, vegetables and crumbled bacon, according to a news release. The salads are available in five options:

  • Caesar Salad with Chicken and Bacon;
  • Greek Inspired with Chicken;
  • Cobb Salad with Turkey and Bacon;
  • Chef Inspired with Turkey and Ham; and
  • Santa Fe Style.

The salads are available in Loblaw stores, including Loblaws, Zehrs, Provigo, and Maxi & Cie, in Quebec and Ontario provinces and the Maritimes, according to the release.

Parent company Bonduelle purchased Ready Pac Foods, Irwindale, Calif, in 2017, and the company changed its name to Bonduelle Fresh Americas. The purchase allowed Bonduelle to expand in the plant-based foods and fresh categories, as well offer products in new markets, Daniel Vielfaure, Bonduelle Group deputy CEO, said in the release.

“This expansion into Canada affirms the company’s ambition to be the world leader in well-living through plant-based foods,” he said in the release.

Bonduelle Fresh Americas has more than a 70% share of the $526 million single-serve salad market in the U.S., according to the company, citing Nielsen Scantrack data for the 52 weeks ending July 28. The company plans to significantly grow the Canadian market for single-serve salads as well.

“Our commitment to understanding and meeting consumer needs and demands puts us in a unique position to excel when it comes to product innovation,” Mary Thompson, Bonduelle Fresh Americas CEO, said in the release. “Canadian consumers want more high-protein food options and Bonduelle Fresh Picked salads will make healthier meal solutions with complete proteins attainable for all.”
