California Walnuts launches consumer sweepstakes

The California Walnut Board & Commission has a new consumer sweepstakes for the holiday baking season.

California Walnuts launched the Golden Walnut Sweepstakes Nov. 12, giving consumers a chance to win a total of $15,000. A grand-prize winner receives $5,000 and 100 others will receive $100 each. The online sweepstakes ends Dec. 31.

“California walnuts and the holidays have always gone hand-in-hand as a quintessential ingredient for family favorite holiday meals and baked treats,” Jennifer Olmstead, California Walnuts’ marketing director, domestic public relations, said in a news release. “The Golden Walnut Sweepstakes is a fun way for us to say thank you to our current consumers while also encouraging additional purchases and driving awareness and trial of California walnuts with new consumers.”

Consumers can enter at https://walnuts.org/goldenwalnut/.

California Walnuts has a multi-channel advertising campaign that includes television, print and digital media focusing on the versatility and heart-healthy attributes of walnuts as a baking ingredient.

TV ads are running on 14 networks, including the Food Network and CNN, and print ads will be in magazines including Good Housekeeping and Better Homes & Gardens, according to the release.
