Good Foods receives recognition for R&D

The research and development team at Pleasant Prairie, Wis.-based Good Foods has been named one of the best of the year by Food Processing magazine.

Good Foods was recognized as having the top R&D group in the medium-size company category, according to a news release. The team has individuals with culinary backgrounds and others with expertise in biology and food science. In recent years Good Foods has launched various new product lines, including plant-based dips and salad dressings.

“What makes our team so special is that while we have different backgrounds and experiences, we have the same shared mission of providing consumers with simple, safe and delicious products,” Katie Schmits, director of innovation for R&D, said in the release. “We’re so honored to have our work recognized as Food Processing’s R&D Team of the Year, and we look forward to continued innovation and development at Good Foods.”

Trend identification, market research and customer collaboration are parts of the process for developing new products at Good Foods, per the release. The company’s R&D team meets weekly to taste test new products, troubleshoot issues and make adjustments.

“Good Foods is driven by innovation,” Kurt Penn, founder and CEO of Good Foods, said in the release. “Research and development is integral to the continued growth of our company and we couldn’t be more proud of our team for receiving this recognition.”
